The minted Mouse - A luxury Relic Reimagined
Every sculpture begins with a spark, an image I can’t get out of my head. For The Minted Mouse, that spark was the idea of uncovering a relic—an artifact that feels both familiar and completely transformed.
This piece merges the iconic silhouette of the classic Mickey character with the rich textures of upcycled Louis Vuitton and money-green accents.
This sculpture was created to resemble a reconstructed specimen, the kind of object one might encounter in a dimly lit Cabinet of Curiosities or the back room of an archaeological institute. A skull with the unmistakable silhouette of Mickey ears, assembled from upcycled Louis Vuitton fragments and money-green accents, restored with the care of an anthropologist attempting to understand a long-lost icon.

Q: What inspired this piece?
The Minted Mouse draws from the cultural impact of a globally recognized character while weaving in the symbolism of value, legacy, and money. The green accents reference the color of money—melding nostalgia, luxury, and commentary on consumer culture. The oversized ears and relief-style skull structure reinforce the relic-like story behind the design.
