R2-Endor Lux marks a major milestone in my body of work—my first-ever life-sized luxury-inspired R2 unit, and the latest addition to my life-sized series. This ongoing series centers on recreating some of the most iconic Star Wars characters at full scale, reinterpreted through materials, textures, and narratives.
At its core, this piece asks a simple question:
What if R2‑D2 had been built not by engineers, but by Ewoks?
The Concept: An R2 Born on Endor
The inspiration behind R2-Endor Lux comes directly from the forest moon of Endor. I imagined a scenario in which the Ewoks—working with what they had—constructed their own R2 unit using natural tones, tactile materials, and organic textures rather than polished metals and factory finishes.
The result is a droid that feels grounded, earthy, and handcrafted—less industrial, more ceremonial.
