A Machine in Contemplation

Thinking Machine
$8,500.00

Explore the inspiration and process behind this piece.

Thinking Machine is part of my E-Waste/Upcycling series, which is a looser, more organic body of work based on found objects and discarded technology. It's constructed from parts of adding machines and typewriters and is a figurative sculpture of a machine in thought. It takes the materials once used to do the calculation and record information and gives them a completely different use: thought.

For this piece, I worked in a looser way, letting the raw materials help shape the figure. The individual parts remain visible, but together they suggest something beyond their original function—a machine that appears to be thinking for itself.

Dimensions:

  • Height - 49 inches

  • Width - 16 inches

  • Depth - 16 inches

This piece requires crating, and the increased shipping cost is reflected.
