Caring for Your Sculpture: Preserving the Craft and Character of Upcycled Art

Q: How should I care for and maintain an upcycled sculpture?

A: Each sculpture is built to last, but like any fine artwork, it benefits from thoughtful care. To preserve your piece, keep it in a dry, temperature-controlled environment away from direct sunlight, high humidity, or extreme temperature changes.

Dust periodically with a soft microfiber or natural-bristle brush, and avoid using any harsh cleaners, solvents, or polishes that could damage the metals, leathers, or adhesives. If your sculpture includes lighting or mechanical elements, handle those sections with care and avoid excessive movement.

Because my pieces combine mixed materials — from aluminum and brass to leather and recycled plastics — gentle, consistent maintenance ensures they maintain both their finish and structural integrity for years to come.

When treated with respect, each sculpture will age gracefully, carrying the patina and story of its materials forward.
