Wearable or Decorative? Understanding the Functionality of Gabriel Dishaw’s Sculptures

Q: Are the sculptures wearable, functional, or purely decorative?

A: Most of my sculptures are designed as fine art for display, built to be admired for their craftsmanship, detail, and storytelling. However, select pieces — particularly within my helmet and mask series — are made to be wearable or include interactive features such as interior lighting, movable parts, or fitted components.

Each sculpture’s description on my website notes whether it’s intended for display, wear, or partial functionality. Even in wearable designs, I maintain a focus on artistry over utility — balancing the visual impact of luxury materials, reclaimed components, and precision construction.

These pieces exist at the crossroads of fashion, sculpture, and technology, bridging the gap between object and experience — inviting the viewer not only to observe but imagine themselves inside the art.
