Circuit Garden departs from the Luxury Series — no leather, no fashion-house DNA. Built from hard drives, floppy disk drives, switches, and typewriter parts, the centerpiece is a mechanical hummingbird perched on a branch, feeding from a repurposed IBM typewriter head bulb — that distinctive golf ball-shaped typehead that defined a generation of machines.
Surrounding the hummingbird is a garden of upcycled flowers, each built from different components. Floppy disk parts as daisies, gears and motor housings as budding flowers, copper heatsinks as leaves. Every layer was once something else — something that had a job, a function, a place in a machine. Now it's something new.
Circuit Garden is also a lamp. Plug it in and the piece illuminates from within, casting light up through the hummingbird perched below.
