BTC-3PO - A bitcoin inspired sculpture
Explore the inspiration and process behind this piece.
BTC-3PO places three distinct worlds in conversation with one another: Star Wars, cryptocurrency culture, and the physical history of computing itself. C-3PO — the galaxy's most anxious protocol droid, fluent in over six million forms of communication — reinterpreted as a Bitcoin-inspired sculpture built from discarded electronics and reclaimed components, including a vintage 1970s hard drive platter, RAM, wire, computer chips, capacitors, and fiber optic cable.
The 1970s hard drive platter at the heart of this piece predates Bitcoin by four decades — which is exactly the point. Technology transforms, renews, and finds new meaning in new contexts. BTC-3PO is a document of that process made sculptural.
