Yes. Every Gabriel Dishaw sculpture is a one-of-a-kind, handcrafted piece — 1 of 1. There are no editions, no reproductions, and no copies. Each work is unique to the collector who owns it. The only exception is the limited edition art print collection, where each print is signed and numbered in runs of 25 to 50.

What makes your work different from other upcycled art?

Gabriel Dishaw's sculptures combine authentic luxury fashion materials — vintage Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and other reclaimed designer goods — with vintage e-waste and pop culture iconography. The result is collector-grade art rooted in two disciplines that rarely meet: high fashion craftsmanship and electronic recycling. Every piece is built entirely by hand from materials that already have a story before they arrive in the studio.

I'm excited to unveil R2-DeLuxe, the latest addition to my life-sized series. This ongoing series centers on recreating some of the most iconic Star Wars characters at full scale, with a reinterpretation carried out through the use of different luxury materials, textures, and hardware. This time, it's the most loyal droid in the galaxy: R2-D2.

R2-DeLuxe is a sculpture with a luxury theme, based on the original Kenner figure from 1978 and measuring 39 inches in height.

R2-DeLuxe by Gabriel Dishaw, a life-sized R2-D2 sculpture made from vintage Louis Vuitton luggage with wood-grain leather, brass trunk nails, and navy accents — Life Sized R2D2 Kenner Verison

R2-DeLuxe is a sculpture with a luxury theme, based on the original Kenner figure from 1978 and measuring 39 inches in height.

For this piece I aimed to achieve a natural, handcrafted appearance, so that R2 seemed as though it had come from the workshop of a skilled trunk maker rather than from a droid factory. The body and dome are covered with leather which has been textured to mimic a warm wood grain and are then lined with deconstructed vintage Louis Vuitton luggage before being finished off with brass trunk nails and hardware.
